Harlow PAC Training
Active Essex Collaboration with Harlow North PCN
In early 2024, Active Essex met with the Harlow North PCN - Digital and Transformation Lead, to support and engage with local surgeries to explore ways of integrating physical activity within the healthcare system.
To bring these opportunities to life, Active Essex's delivered an information session to the personalised care team in January 2024. The session was well-received, and the PCN expressed interest in training for active practices. Consequently, a training session with Dr. Vasandhara was scheduled for June.

The collaborative event with Dr. Vasandhara and Active Essex provided education on physical activity in the context of long-term conditions and highlighted community opportunities. The virtual event was attended by delegates across the PCN, including GPs, ECPs, paramedics, practice nurses, social prescribers, ANPs, CYP health and wellbeing coaches, HCAs, and digital and transformation leads.
The training session included a variety of healthcare staff, encompassing different ages and genders. Participants ranged from clinical roles such as GPs and practice nurses to non-clinical roles like social prescribers and digital transformation leads.
Clinical delegates also received resources to support in-consultation discussions about physical activity, while non-clinical delegates learned about community opportunities for patient signposting.
Active Essex played a crucial role in providing the funding needed to deliver the sessions for free, ensuring cost was not a barrier for participants.
The project highlighted the importance of integrated working across health, care, and community sectors. The project also developed working relationships across the health and care sectors, assisting with future integrated working for the overall health and care system and the wider community.
